Jewell Searcy, Corporate Accountant, is the winner of LeadingAge Michigan’s 2014 Shining Star Award. LeadingAge Michigan will present the award at its Member Gala and Awards Ceremony during their 46th Annual Conference. The event will be held on Tuesday, May 20, from 6:00 – 10:00 p.m. at the Lansing Convention Center.
Jewell Searcy began her career with Evangelical Homes of Michigan (EHM) as a nursing assistant forty years ago. With the realization that furthering her education would make it easier to support her family, she obtained an Associate’s degree in accounting and moved into the corporate office at Evangelical Homes of Michigan. Today, as Corporate Accountant, she trains and assists the Payroll Coordinators in all of Evangelical Homes’ divisions, as well as manages the corporate payroll, accounts payable, and assists in all areas of finance.
The Shining Star Award recognizes a gifted aging services professional who has consistently demonstrated dedication, commitment and enthusiasm in their profession, and has made a significant impact upon the lives of older adults. Nomination criteria requires that the nominee is employed in a management role, has delivered at least 20 years of service in the aging services field, provides consistent, dedicated contribution to senior care, and demonstrates excellence in management of personnel, statistical, customer service or information systems development. Jewell was one of three winners to receive this award out of 11 total nominees from 11 different organizations.
